02/03/2010 | The Cheapest Deal isn't always the Best Deal

On-line shopping may now be regarded as financially safe, as your credit card company will insure your transaction, so financially you won't lose out should the unthinkable happen to the online company you are buying from.

This is fine when buying a CD or a book, as there are dozens of other sites or actual shops you can buy the same book from and the book will be the same whether you buy it from one online shop or another.

However this doesn't apply to buying furniture.

Here is a scenario which we are hearing more and more often.

Mrs Smith needs to replace her bed. She does her research and eventually finds a website who claims to sell the particular bed Mrs Smith wants the cheapest. Mrs Smith buys the bed online. Mrs Smith receives an email to say her bed will be delivered next week. Mrs Smith sells her old bed expecting a delivery in a couple of days. Mrs Smith checks online to make sure her bed in going to be delivered as planned and instead of seeing the companies website she see this



Mrs Smith contacts her credit card company who inform her that yes she is covered and will receive her money back - however Mrs Smith is now bed less, as she has sold her old one.

In the last 2 weeks alone we have heard of two online furniture companies who have gone into administration - leaving their customers without their furniture and their suppliers with unpaid invoices.

In posting this news item we are not intending to scaremonger about online shopping, we ourselves plan to have an ecommerce presence very soon, what we are trying to do is get a very simple message across

Prestige Furniture successfully hosted the launch of our Eco Range of furniture on Saturday, with the designer and Dragons Den winner Max McMurdo appearing in store over the weekend.

The range has received international and national acclaim, and was warmly received in store, as Prestige and Bovey Tracey joined the likes of London, New York and Berlin in welcoming Max and his contemporary eco design furniture.

If you havent already been down to check out the washing machine drum coffee table, or the roll top bath sofa, then you really are missing out.

28/10/2009 | Dragons Den winner launches contemporary eco design furniture at Prestige Furniture.

Prestige Furniture are to become the first retail store, outside of London, to supply Dragons Den winner Max McMurdos reestore range of contemporary eco design furniture.

Max McMurdo successfully pitched his reestore products on BBC2’s Dragons Den to both local West Country entrepreneur Deborah Meaden, as well as Theo Paphitis, both of which invested in reestore ltd, plus have a unique range of eco designed products named after them.

The range incorporates everyday waste objects, such as washing machine drums and roll top baths, and cheekily turns them into charming yet functional pieces of furniture and accessories.

The reestore range is to be officially launched at 10am on Saturday 31st , when Max will unveil the display within Prestige Furniture’s Heathfield store.

We are excited to announce that furniture choosen at Prestige Furniture is soon to make an appearance on ITV1's 60 Minute Makeover programme.

	The show, which is due to be aired on the 28th September at 2pm on ITV1, features a dining table and sideboard choosen from our Chichester Range. More information to follow.

10/08/2009 | Prestige Furniture receive planning permission.

We are pleased to announce that we have successfully received planning permission to convert 6,000 square feet of existing storage space into retail space for three years.

The additional retail area will allow us to offer more end of season lines to customers, meaning there will be even more bargains in store than usual.
